About Disaster Distress Helpline

The national Disaster Distress Helpline (call or text 1-800-985-5990 ; press 2 for Spanish) provides 24/7/365 crisis and emotional support for anyone in the United States/territories experiencing distress or other mental health concerns related to any natural or human-caused disaster, including before, during, and after such events, as well as during long term recovery.

DDH calls and texts are answered by trained crisis counselors who will listen to what's on your mind, explore healthy coping, identify social supports, and offer referrals for follow-up care and support. The DDH is answered by an independently-operated crisis center, with funding from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
